Yoga Learning Hub – Code of Conduct

I. Introduction

The Yoga Learning Hub Code of Conduct (“Code”) applies to all Members of the Yoga Learning Hub community, including students, teachers, therapists, staff, volunteers, and collaborators.
Every Member is required to submit an official acknowledgment confirming their understanding of and agreement to follow this Code.

Rooted in the Yamas and Niyamas of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, this Code reflects ethical and professional behavior aligned with Yoga Learning Hub’s mission to promote integrity, excellence, and wellness through authentic yoga practices.


II. Purpose

Yoga Learning Hub strives to be a globally recognized institution for yoga education, research, therapy, and sustainable living.
The primary goals of this Code are to:

  • Promote safe, inclusive, and respectful yoga environments

  • Ensure professional conduct among Yoga Learning Hub Members

  • Uphold standards aligned with AYUSH, YCB (Yoga Certification Board), and international yoga protocols

  • Build public trust in certified yoga professionals


III. Core Ethical Foundation: Yamas and Niyamas

Members are expected to uphold the following fundamental yogic ethics:

Yamas
  • Ahimsa – Non-harming

  • Satya – Truthfulness

  • Asteya – Non-stealing

  • Brahmacharya – Moderation

  • Aparigraha – Non-possessiveness

Niyamas
  • Shaucha – Purity

  • Santosha – Contentment

  • Tapas – Discipline

  • Svadhyaya – Self-study

  • Ishvarapranidhana – Surrender to a higher power


IV. Principles of Professional Conduct
1. Adherence to Laws and Policies

Members must comply with:

  • Local, state, national, and international laws

  • Indian IT Act, DPDPA (Digital Personal Data Protection Act), AYUSH regulations

  • Child protection laws

  • Yoga Learning Hub’s internal policies, including scope of practice, anti-harassment, and sexual misconduct policies

2. Anti-Harassment & Anti-Discrimination

Strictly prohibited:

  • Verbal, physical, sexual, or online harassment

  • Any form of discrimination based on age, gender, ethnicity, religion, ability, body type, or economic status

Inclusivity is expected. Reasonable accommodations must be offered to persons with disabilities.

3. Respect in Student–Teacher Relationships
  • Consent-Based Touch: Teachers must obtain ongoing, informed consent before giving physical adjustments.

  • Consent to Record: No use of student images, videos, or testimonials without written permission.

4. Teaching Responsibility & Integrity
  • Members must never teach under the influence of drugs or alcohol (except prescribed medication).

  • Classes must prioritize student safety and clearly communicate contraindications and modifications.

  • Misrepresenting one’s qualifications or teaching beyond certification is prohibited.

5. Cultural & Social Responsibility

Members should:

  • Honor the Indian roots of yoga and avoid cultural appropriation

  • Acknowledge lineage, tradition, and teaching style

  • Adapt teachings respectfully for different cultural and socio-economic contexts


V. Digital & Communication Ethics
  • Misuse of Yoga Learning Hub platforms—including trolling, hate speech, or cyberbullying—is prohibited.

  • All materials (manuals, videos, presentations, lectures) are proprietary and may not be reproduced or shared without authorization.


VI. Honesty in Communication

Members must:

  • Avoid exaggerating yoga benefits or personal credentials

  • Acknowledge teachers, mentors, and sources

  • Maintain a referral list for students who may need mental or physical health support beyond yoga


VII. Financial Ethics & Transparency
  • All fees, scholarship terms, and payment policies must be honored exactly as agreed.

  • Financial misconduct, false claims, unethical promotions, or misleading marketing are strictly prohibited.


VIII. Grievance Redressal & Appeals

All grievances are confidentially reviewed for compliance with this Code and relevant legal/ethical standards.

Appeals

A Member may appeal a decision only if:

  1. There was a procedural lapse

  2. New, valid evidence has emerged that was unavailable earlier


IX. Disciplinary Action

Violation of this Code may result in:

  • Warning, suspension, or expulsion

  • Revocation of certifications

  • Legal action under applicable Indian or international laws

Yoga Learning Hub reserves the right to take any appropriate action at its sole discretion.


X. Legal Jurisdiction

This Code is governed by the laws of India, and all disputes shall fall under the jurisdiction of the courts in Pune, Maharashtra.


XI. Acknowledgement of Agreement

By joining any Yoga Learning Hub training or program, you acknowledge that:

  • You have read and understood this Code of Conduct

  • You agree to uphold yogic values and comply with all legal obligations

  • You accept that violations may result in disciplinary action
